February 2009 Journal Entries (68)

Finally, success is near.

Two more teachers, at last! I have managed to recruit a warlock, Adamis, and a shaman, my own Hukari. This greatly broadens our teaching range, though I still am hoping to find a death knight, so I may pass the necromancy classes on to them.

With the new staff, I am handling the general and magus-based courses. Kalren is in charge of the Light courses, as well as teaching a defense against the Plague course. Hukari is teaching shamanism and voodoo, and Adamis is teaching a slew of… Continue

Found Journal

Lolling in the shade
on the grass
midst the flowers
no loud smoothed-skinned ones
to break my peace

Where is he?

Sitting in the darkness
on the ground
smashing plants
growling furry one
restless

Where is he?

Dear Mostly Dry Diary... Bear Stalker

Today, a bear kept following me. It was awful! I had to stay on one of the canal boats all afternoon to keep safe. Thank sprockets that bears melt in water!

Sincerely,
Toddles

P.S. - Gnomes don't melt in water, we just get really, really wet and sometimes rust.

It's goddamn cold

It's goddamn cold. I hate Northrend. I hated the cold during the winter months in Lordaeron, and I hate it here as well. It's damn cold, and I'm alone. I'm alone with only my thoughts, and three damn voices in my head that like to bicker with me for no other reason than to drive me mad.

It's been four months first my first stepping on this Light forsaken rock. I joined those damned Argents in hopes of breaking away as fast as possible and setting out in my task to save Her. I loathe… Continue

Dear Soggy Diary... Bear Banning Progress!

Hope you've finally forgiven me for dropping you in the canal. It took days for you to finally dry! Did you do that because you were mad?

Regardless! I've made much bear banning progress lately. I think people are actually starting to listen to me! They even laugh when they hear my name.

I didn't realize I had so many friends.

Sincerely,
Toddles.

P.S. - Writing on wrinkly pages is hard!

Repose of a Madman

Officer's Log, Numerical Date: 008.381, Mechano-Lord Zanzul reporting.

It has been too long since I have recorded my thoughts. Too long since I have allowed a dissemination of my current state and events. Though that begs the question, why do I record this? Perhaps for some future generation, seeking perfection through science? Perhaps out of my own self-styled pride, though it could hardly be called such, as my statements are factual to a point? Or perhaps, this has no purpose… Continue

Cantique's Charge

BittyB licks her fingers and says "Cantique, that's good cookin!" Cantique flushes just a bit from the praise. Bitty hops off her chair and begins banking the small fire so there will be embers left for morning. Cantique pushes her plate aside and writes...

-----------------------

Journal,

I went fishing with Bittyb today. She's fun to watch although how she can catch anything is beyond reckoning. She moves around so much! Today when she caught her first fish, she… Continue

Some signs of hope

Bless Shango, I have one teacher.

I still have two others to approach, whom I need much more. But alas, we had many requests on Light-classes, and despite being... outdated.. in its art, it is still important. I must not discourage new ideas for the students, and perhaps someone can find new techniques with the Light. I keep my lack of faith to myself. And I try to have faith in this new teacher... Kalren. It was hard not to shiver when I talked with him. But the exchange seemed in… Continue

Death and Decay

"Look out! Here they come!"

The man was afraid... terrified. He'd been locked in a small, grimy cage for days. He was starving and on the brink of breakdown. And in all due likelihood, his captors meant to eat him. Or worse, turn him into one of them. Ezrial recognized the man's fear, even understood it to an extent. But it was difficult to empathize. Difficult not to be annoyed that while he cowered in fear, their horse was not being freed and saddled.

It had been years… Continue

Women

Wednesday, 25/2/624, 4:05 PM

Dear Self and Reader(s),

Women. There is no creature more fearsome, more horrendous, than an angry woman. I am fortunate to be alive after my recent encounters. This is the real reason why Lordaeron has no women in its armies: they are too scary.

Lanria wanted to see the laboratory. I nearly fainted. Lanria, in the lab? Appalling! I showed her the apartments, and am hurriedly trying to clean it up for her inspection. It is a mess. I… Continue

A Joint Effort

Time is short, and brevity is necessary here. Lenora is taken, and we have yet to discover a way to free her from Kel'Thuzad's terrible necromantic grip. He has imprisoned her in the courtyard of Icecrown Citadel and there is an army of mighty bone giants and rotting minions in our path.

Tonight, I send word to the Templars and all of our allies on both sides of the tenuous conflict; we need their aid on the battlefield this time, and we need it quickly. We must engage the forces on… Continue

Cantique's Pen

Cantique stands at the cookfire in her home, stirring a pot of boiling whiteroot and seedpods. She adds a few small pieces of smoked boar and some lard and moves the pot to a cooler ember stack. As she looks around for her precious powder and crystals, her eyes fall on her journal on the floor under a little three legged stool.

---------------------

I believe someone has been reading my personal writings. I'm fairly sure it was Bittyb as I found a little drop of what looks… Continue

HONOR

The night is a foe just as deadly in Northrend as many of the creatures one encounters there. The sun sinks below the horizon, taking with it the last of the day's warmth, plunging the arctic regions into fierce, biting cold. Those who venture into the tundra without planning for the night do not come back.

The night in Northrend is also very beautiful. Phantom ribbons light the sky with their soft, undulating glow in a myriad of colors. It is easy to forget, huddled under a thick… Continue

Dark Deeds

"You were a fool to abandon the Lich King. He will strip you of your will and leave you a hollowed husk to be used as fodder!"

"My absence will be noted, Death Knight. What will you do when they track you-"

"Still your tongue, or I'll cut it out. You forget, necromancer, that I was once part of your scourge. I know as well as you do how expendable you are. No one from the Scholomance will so much as mourn your absence."

The necromancer fell silent; it had… Continue

Mistweaver the Undying

My name is Ezriel Mistweaver. I was born a Kaldorei over seven-thousand years ago. I am ancient by the standards of a human or a dwarf, but amongst those whom once counted me amongst their people, there are many older. The Kaldorei are a race only now coming to grips with mortality, in the wake of the shattering of our world tree, Nordrassil. In this, some might consider me fortunate. Most, however, do not.

I was an oddity amongst my peers. Where most Kaldorei males found their… Continue

Love and Marriage, Hate and Disparage

As the day for my joining ceremony gets closer, I become apprehensive for what it portends. So many still assume that it is a carnal relationship and look upon me in disgust, when it is their befouled minds that think a union between two sentient creatures must involve mating. Athalia is human, but she is also dead; this isn't something I argue against, or try to hide.

Their revulsion no longer bothers me, as none now have the courage to speak their bile to my face. Like the lashing… Continue

Cantique's pen

Cantique lays her fishing pole down. Looking around to be sure she is alone, she removes her clothing and walks into the water. Bending foward, Cantique ducks her head and swims underwater until she is nearly breathless. Bouncing up and gasping for air, she keeps her eyes closed and stands squishing the mud between her toes. She can feel the barest whisper of air against her exposed shoulders and her skin bumps up against the chill. Suddenly, she hears a faint splash. and ducking to her… Continue

The Descent: Deterioration

Rivvka sat on her worktable, in the basement of the barracks at Honor Hold. She had sectioned off the small cubby under the stairs for her work, and as usual, she slept in the place as well. The worktable was at one end of the small space, and a cot at the other, with only one candle to light the place.

The Draenei was used to working in these cramped conditions, so she didn’t mind. What she did mind was the dim light. All she could see was various shades of greys and whites, not her… Continue

I found this journal

(I found this discarded journal page on the ground in the park in Stormwind . . .Cantique)

-------------------------

I heard he could be found in the cavernous city of Ironforge. As I rode the

oily smelling transport, I tried to think how to approach him. My muscles

tensed. Why was I wary? Upon arrival, I stealthed and wandered in the

firegut below the ways like a coward. I found him easily enough. He was

sitting on a tall-legged, tall horned creature. Just… Continue

I found another page

(I found this bit of a journal in the park - looked like someone threw it away - Cantique)

Nanaive. She stands there knowing. In this city I hate. She advised me to

leave. I trusted her. Now I have no friends. Here. Or there.

I know her because she walked with me during the journey. My long walk which began when the male druid said to me, “Go”.

I was stumbling from weariness as the moon rose on my third night of walking. A short dark-haired female was… Continue
