Who are you that stands before me? Is it courage or ill-fortune that has made you cross my crimson gaze? Perhaps you think me the savage that my people are famed to be. It may also be that you see my battered armor, my cracked shield, and think to find a weakness in my defense. Or, spirits willing, you come not with blood and steel in mind, but to pay respect to a shieldbearer who has earned his place.

I do not stand as tall or as broad as many of my kin, but do not mistake my size for relative weakness. I bear many scars -- from sword and axe, from whip and manacles, from tragedy and tribulation. But I also carry many trophies, be they the weapons I wield, the heads I have claimed, and the pride and honor that remains as stalwart as any shield.

Arrogant, you may say. Boastful, this orc, this greenskinned mud-dwelling barbarian. Those are words of those who do not understand, would not respect and honor a people who have risen anew after falling so far. Humility has its place, and restraint has its uses, but neither will ensure survival when faced with the unknown. Only those with the strength to survive, the honor to temper that strength, and the endurance to live by their code will see the coming dawn.

I shall not lie to you, stranger, and tell you that I am not a barbarian. There will be no excuses from me for the crimes of my people, only a demand that others take responsibility for the crimes of theirs. The wise and experienced know that there is no justice in this world except that which we make, and that peace comes only to the ones protected by those who live in eternal war.

That is who I am. I am orc. I am a savage. I am a warrior. And I stand as a symbol of the Horde, a proud society that has fought for its place in this sundered land.
