Flaws? 
He is overconfident in his abilities, not in fact being a very good mage on paper. He simply has a lot of raw and uncontrolled potential inside him, which tends to come out when he gets emotional.

His emotions tend to be his downfall, caring too much about the people around him and charging off into battle on his own, blinded by his own fury.

He is also stubborn and set in his ways, people who bad mouth him or the legion get the full force of his ire.

Strengths?
When he is calm, he gains friends pretty well and is pleasant to be around.

His control over fire is undoubtedly impressive, as is his resilience and ruthlessness in battle.
