Saralene Hallman
I thought the innocent sound of giggles meant trouble. It was my last day at home before I would be sent out on an errand up North. I told Leo that I wanted him to behave, pleaded with him. He readily agreed with me and then took off with his little Draenei friend. I was not too worried, not about Leo.
It was Jolenna that I had to stay on top of. She wanted to spend her days at Lakeshire, showing off in front of the guards and dare I add, the townsfolk as well. She was testing my nerves, but, I didn't think things could get worse. Oooh... but I was wrong.
I had finished cleaning the kitchen and stepped into the livingroom. I was hoping to sweep, but when I entered the room, there was clothing tossed all over the place. Undergarments hung from my rocker, stockings were stretched out over the rug and tubes of make up lay scattered about in a half used fashion.
The first thought that came to mind was that Jolenna had been trying to make herself up...but I didn't recall her returning from town. I lowered my gaze to a silken lingerie piece and then I heard another echo of laughter bubble in from outside... "LEO!"
I raced across the room and flung open the front door, my voice on edge... my eyes growing wide at the sight before me. It took a moment before I found my voice again. After to the children, what they were doing... it was just harmless play.
Leo had a thin robe sash tied about his head like a bandana, Jolenna's make up had been smeared across his cheeks and a pair of her lacy panties had been slid on over his overalls. I could have laughed at the custome but then I spotted S'leen. She had on a see through dress over a a thi white linen shirt. Her horns covered with make up markings and I was beside myself... what harm was a game of dress up? No.. it was not the game itself that un nerved me...it was that Jolenna left such vain apparel laying around within reach.
I marched out to them, my breath heavy, I reached out and grabbed Leo by the arm "What are you doing?!"
Leo casually turned and looked at me as if he were completely innocent. I started to scol him unti I noticed what he had on across his chest. "L..leo?" I was once again speechless. The fact he was wearing one of Jo'e bras...backwards like a jacket...it was laughable.
"We was playing, Momma." Leo tugged at my hand almost pleadingly.
I cleared my thraot and stifled a laugh "Are these Jo's clothes?"
Leo giggled and so did S'leen. I nodded knowingly. "Alright, go inside and take that stuff off...if you hurry and clean up, I will allow you to play a really fun game."
Leo grinned "Wha game?"
I patted his head "It's called, Burn it all."
Leo sqeauled and took off running towards the house, chanting "Burn it!...Burn it!
S'leen flashed me a smile then took off after Leo. Her voice was softer as she too tried to chant out the litte verse of 'Burn it'
I shook my head and turned to go into the house. Things were starting to look up...
I stepped through the front door of our home, knocking down a stack of letters destined for the mailbox. My heart skipped a beat and as I looked down at the scattered letters...I was left to ponder,
Perhaps things weren't looking up after all!
