Guilt

  • The trees blurred past him as he ran, swinging from branches and ducking through the underbrush. His robe got caught in a low-laying branch, and he ripped it away. His clawed hands left gouges in the bark of trees, as he ran for his very life.

He didn't know what was chasing him, but he knew it would kill him. He chanced a look over his shoulder, and felt his eyes burn in his head. His feet tripped over a root, and he stumbled, a hand clasped over his eyes. He managed to pick up the pace, but he knew the thing was gaining ground on him.

He broke out into a clearing, the sky above him completley black and starless. A light permeated through the trees, scorching the earth and the forest. He ran into a solid wall of trees and vines, trapped as the light filled the clearing. He fell to his knees, holding his face as his body liquefied, melting from the sheer heat of the light. His screams were blood-curtling, as he writhed on the ground in agony, his body turning into a puddle of flesh.

Kennius awoke in his bed, clutching the sheets in his hands. He sat bolt upright, gasping for breath, despite the fact he didn't need to breathe. He looked around, realizing he was in his home, in his own bed. Velexie stirred beside him, her arms around his waist. Slowly she opened her eyes, looking up at him blearily.

"Ken," she murmured, "What's wrong?" He slowly leaned down to kiss her forehead, shaking his head.

"Nothing," he replied, "Just a bad dream." Velexie frowned, the grimace almost lost in the dark light. Kennius layed back, looking at the canopy with tired eyes. She snuggled against his shoulder, wrapping her arms around his. He felt her gentle touch, her nose nuzzling at his neck  as she cuddled against him.

She slid back, stradling his waist. He could feel her lean back, and he opened his eyes.

It wasn't Velexie. It was Naxevo.

The Warlock grinned evily, holding a knife in his hands as he plunged it into Kennius' chest over and over again, his black blood spewing from the wounds. The Priest screamed, as Naxevo plunged the blade into his neck, his head bouncing away into the fireplace. His cacophony of screams reached the giggling madness of Naxevo as he hacked apart the Priest's body over and over again.

Kennius opened his eyes, looking around the cellar of his barn. There was a body on the table, covered by a white sheet. Slowly, the Priest inched towards the table, his eyes wary of the sheet. He touched a hand to the sheet, his taloned fingers slowly gripping it. Something moved under the sheet.

    Something was alive.

He ripped it back and saw the Human, covered in blood and mangled beyond recognition. His grey eye shot open, and his pale fleshy hand reached out to grab Kennius by the throat. The Undead let out a startled cry, as the Paladin brought him face to face.

"Look what you did to me," screamed Bravis, foaming at the mouth. Kennius clawed at the man's face, trying to free himself. The Paladin's hand burned at his throat, and Kennius looked at his hands, as his flesh turned to ash. He let out a scream-

And found himself at the bar in the Undercity, standing beside an Orc. The thing's blue eyes looked at him, and the Orc let out a snarl, and punched through the Undead's chest.

"What am I," he roared, "Just something for you to play with?!" He ripped out Kennius' beating heart, spewing black blood.

"I'M JUST AN EXPERIMENT?!?!?!?" Kennius fell to his knees as the Orc grabbed a mighty axe, and took aim at the Forsaken's skull. The mighty weapon came up, and Kennius heard it come down.

He awoke, leaning over his dining room table. Kennius rubbed his eyes, and pushed himself away from the table. The sun rose outside, and what birds that were left in the forest twittered their dawn chorus. Slowly, Kennius forced himself to stoke the fire in the fireplace, putting some Worgen bacon into a pan. He cooked it, turning it over in the pan. The Priest thought back to his dreams, closing his eyes.

There was so much he wished he could take back.
