So it's looking more and more likely that the release date for Mists of Pandaria will be sometime in late Q2 or maybe even early Q3 of this year. This has created a lot of worry amongst various subsets of the WoW community. It was stated that there was no intent to create a filler raid (in the vein of Ruby Sanctum) to pass the time for raiders, there hasn't been any new PvP content apart from new arena seasons, and all indications are that the story is going to hover in the post-Dragon Soul limbo for quite some time.
This is a great opportunity for intra-faction roleplay and personal plots to develop, unfettered by the looming dangers of whatever comes with the next content patch. Not every roleplayer attached themselves to the game's metaplot, of course, but chances are the pool of people involved in more grounded roleplay will be expanding.
Of course, this can also lead to a desire to just table the game until something new comes. Some people like pie instead of cake, after all.
What will you be doing with your characters in this in-between time?
LOVE CRUSADE. That is all that needs to be said for me.
Captain Morgan Ashford said:
This character and his significant other had long yearned to find peace in order to start their family. It seems they are not the only ones. As someone recently put it... Baby boom! To me, to my character, and likely to others, it will be nice to lead normal (ish?) lives for a change, even if it is not forever.
I think this is going to be a big challenge for me, in fact (living a normal life for a bit). I don't really have a concept of what Kormok's life is like when he's not actively in the field. It's an unusual change, and I actually find myself at a loss for how to proceed! Funny, isn't it?
With Ariaylnn engaged to Taldrus, much of her next year is framed by a wedding and (potentially) family. Certain events leading to MoP will impact her and the Templars directly, but in the spirit of not discussing spoilers or attempting to plan too far ahead, going to focus on the present right now.
This means that I will likewise be lost for a while, attempting to roleplay a character whose life and goal has been war for the last two decades. However, the Horde/Alliance faction war will no doubt heat up between now and then, which will give Arialynn more than enough practice she'll need for MoP. She'll be watching the escalation very closely.
I'll be bouncing between Arialynn and alts. The Templars are considering capping several alts at 60 and running raids such as Molten Core, in addition to roleplaying new characters and stories. The fun thing about the effort is that all of us are playing classes/specs that we've never tried before, and our usual healers are playing tanks, our tanks are playing ranged DPS, etc. That'll certainly keep things sharp between now and MoP. (;
Ya know, I'm not sure. Here's my stab at predicting what my currently RP'd lot will do:
Issaela -- She spent plenty of decades just doing social parties, she can keep on with that. She has a longer view of life events than she lets on in her frothy chatter. She's also pretty darn sure there will always be -something- to battle. So she can enjoy a hiatus of peace without losing her attention span to the world's threats. She will, however, find that peace heightens her futile yearning to bear a child now that it's so much safer to do so.
Jenafeine -- War or peace, injuries happen. She'll work in clinics, with orphanages -- peace doesn't automatically create parents! -- and at her shop. She'll also hope to spend more time with Laethellewyn, perhaps find some time to seek out a means by which he might wield the Light once more even if a true return to life cannot happen. Or, um. She'll take an arrow to the kn -- chest. There is a mad archer dogging her, after all.
Fashenal -- He'll keep on sailing and trading and working on elaborate conman schemes, as well as continuing his subtle search for those who fired on his ship. He's much more devious than me, I'm sure his revenge will be inspired, thorough, and untraceable. Meanwhile he'll keep on finding ways to make his Lady smile; until she tires of him, he's hers.
Wiskarakhwa -- He loves to travel around, stopping now and then to philosophize with others. Having an unshattered world in which to do this will please him. Most likely he'll have a series of adventures where he comes in, helps save a town, then rides off into the sunrise ...
I never really accomplished the level of involvement of enjoying the game raids as much as I would have enjoyed. I have been playing since release in 04’ and there are still dungeons that I have never really got to enjoy due to lack of actual guild members. But I do them when I can and just several super nerfs just to see a small speck of what others have been through.
World of Warcraft, has been for me- more of a virtual life- full of adventure, fun and drama- as well as, suspense and thrills. I have accepted the life of a full time Role Player.
During the break of—nothing in particular going on--. I will be doing about the same thing as most anyone else- and that is to continue developing my character/ characters.
My main characters to date being: Syvbia, Syvbar, Cymbol, Valthar and Jalwyn.
I may work on introducing a few of my others- Vonja, Ulka and Vonghal ( Byron)
I have already let slip among some friends who are close to Syvbia, in an OOC manner on her intentions through out this year, and my hopes for RP-plot and character development- there are several plans that I have already been setting into motion.
This year, I also plan to not let Wretched Souls be so easily squished for the sake of the Good Guy ego. The past year or two I have allowed good to triumph over the damned in a variety of plots in order to get our name known in the community. This year I / We aim to make a change in that and hope the community will support us in our plot efforts as I continue to strive to develop good RP plots that the community can feel free to merge into and keep the light and life of Cross Faction welfares and Drama- burning alive and well.
