The new network poll has SHOCKINGLY revealed that many members are excited for improvements to character profiles.
Already on the list for improving character profiles is: for those who have made contributions to the network, the ability to change the appearance of their profile in ways that are awesome. I want to do this right, which is why it's taken a considerable amount of time to make happen.
I would love to know what improvements you envision for your characters' profiles.

The only thing I will list as a 'must have need' for the profiles is the ability to input more sophisticated text in the "info" tab area. Currently it doesn't seem to even allow for line breaks. That makes Uraka a sad orc indeed.
I would love to see the Profile pages include some way for us to pick and choose which of the tabs are displayed by default. If nothing else being able to set my profile so that "Info" shows first instead of updates would be ideal. That'd be a very basic (seemingly anyway) change that would make me much more satisfied with the feature.
If something more complex were possible I'd like to see the ability to have more than one of the current tabs on a profile's default page. The Ning allowed us to choose to have things in the center or left-hand columns, and that'd be a neat feature - although I think it'd be perfectly awesome even if some things (friends, recent updates, art, etc) were only able to be placed in the left-hand column, while others were only able to be centered. With that change I'd actually be completely in love with the profile feature once again.
At the high-end level of 'would like, but don't expect' for profiles I think it'd be awesome to have a bit more control over what content goes on the main profile page. If we were able to use HTML there to format character profiles with embedded images in the main area I would be over-the-moon with joy.
As always, I have no idea the workload involved in achieving even basic changes, so I'm terribly grateful that this is even in consideration. Thanks for all the hard work!
For profiles, I think I'm with other folks on the ability to edit with HTML, but if we do get sections for histories and things to that effect, it might be nice to have a way to flag it as public/friends only/private.
Don't know if it would be possible, but other privacy settings could be nice, also. (Creating 'groups' from your friends, ability to share parts of your profile/journal/etc with your guild, a created group, etc.) I'm a little odd about what I leave visible for the general public, so being able to better manage who-gets-to-read-what would be awesome, for both the profiles and journals, really.
