Wanted! Horde Event Ideas (PvE-RP/PvP-RP)

As many of you know, The Rum'n Rumble was a bit of a test to gauge the interest in casual RP-PVP activities. The number of participants exceeded all expectations. Although not everyone fought (due to level, resilience rating, or disinterest), they still participated in betting and socializing with the competitors.

Many see the mechanics of this game as a hindrance to roleplay, but I have always believed that a dose of it can be beneficial and complimenting of roleplay plots, advancements, and activities. Finding a balanced hybrid of these two forms allows us to reveal the hard work our characters have gone through, whether it is in dungeons, battlegrounds or raids. This is an arguable subject, and is not meant to evoke a debate of level versus skill. I merely think that -sometimes- it is nice to allow those who have enjoyed certain mechanics of the game to feel it has some IC benefit. The Rum'n Rumble was one of those occasions.

With that said, I would like to open the door to creative ideas that you would like to see implemented: What PVP-RP or PVE-RP events would YOU like to see the Red March host?

I am more looking for concepts then fine tuning the smaller details just yet. There will always be mechanical restraints but most of the times there are creative means of bypassing them or softening certain stats and levels restrictions. If you have any ideas, please OOCly post here!

If you wish to speak to Mayune directly to ICly propose an idea, then please send her a mail or find me in-game.

How about an actual tournament? With a first, second and third winners that get some sort of prize?
That would be awesome to watch, or play. And it has the potential to either be just a day thing, or spread out for multiple days.

PvP - Possibly using the free for all pvp arenas that are found all over the world (Gurubashi, Dire Maul, etc) and Tournaments as suggested. Moar fight nights.

PvE - Scavenger hunt maybe? Player made quests - I've seen GHI used to make some neat questlines.

PvP: I'd have to agree with above, tournaments.

PvE: There was an interesting idea that Lilithia had way back in the day. She'd break people into three/four member teams and give them missions to collect an objective or kill a target. Not quite sure how she picked out stuff, but it was fun. She'd send teams all around Azeroth for the missions.

The Red March is off to a great start, much thanks to Mayune for spearheading this initiative. The Rum ‘n Rumble was a blast, and the turnout was excellent. Go Red March!

    PvP
I like the ideas for a tournament or something involving the open Arenas, both could be a lot of fun. (And that arena in Nagrands seems deserted most of the time.)

I might also be fun to schedule a “War Machine” training session up in Wintergrasp. The area seems largely deserted most of the time, and it’d be a neat way to introduce characters and players alike to the Siege Engines.

    PvE
Scavenger hunts are great, and I’d love to learn more about GHI and using it for quests or puzzles. Those could make for some really memorable events. Foot / Relay Races are also a classic event type, and one could spice it up as a triathlon theme, with running, flying and swimming involved.

Some of the things that are nice about both scavenger hunts and relay races is you’ve got an excuse to break a large crowd up into smaller groups. In that respect it’d be neat to select group makeup at random, so that folks might get to interact with new faces.

One thing I would love to see is an actual Red March. It could be an escort quest of sorts, or it could simply be a fundraiser. The length of the march probably isn’t as important as the setting. We spend so much of our time flying (or worse, being summoned) to places, that I think it’d be neat to have a walk just to enjoy some of the awesome scenery.

Other ideas might include a IC healer’s seminar, river boat races in Thousand Needles, fishing or low level gathering tournament, tradeskill faire, or even a round-robin story event.

Oh yes I participated in some of Lilithias job nights and they were very fun.

Also for a Horde style event maybe we could reennact famous battles like battle for undercity. I herd u liek RPs so we put RPs in your RPs?

"I'm sorry, that T3 breastplate is not anachronistically accurate to this time period. Please do the proper research next time! GAWH."

You people get all my love. So awesome.

For pvp, if we do a Horde arena theme, we could use Gurubashi arena so teams could fight. Only thing is we'd have to watch out for outside interference.
