Sins of the Father
Chapter 1
The Achrin-Darow
What:
Sins of the Father is going to be an ongoing Storyline revolving around my villainous character, Lord Achrimedes Darcroft. He is a power hungry man bent on achieving absolute power and control over everything he sees as 'below him'. He is a ruthless and cold man who only sees other people as means to his nefarious ends. I will be leveling and RPing more and more often as time progresses as well as running a Guild through him (This is a fresh alt, so don't be shocked he's a lowbie).
The Achrin-Darow is a Magical Sickness which effects those capable of casting, channeling or connecting to Shadow Magic. The sickness itself is not recorded in many - if any tomes and seems to have a leeching effect upon the afflicted. It's not something that can take a character down overnight but it will sap at their strength as time wears on. This is COMPLETELY VOLUNTEER. Meaning, if you want your character to get sick, then they can get sick! If you don't, that's up to you! I'll detail the Symptoms for you below!
Symptoms:
Symptoms of the Achrin-Darow are as follows:
Dizziness, Light Headedness, Coughing, loss of physical and magical strength, an appearance of corruption in the veins (Turning black, pulsing/throbbing).
Severe progression of the Sickness:
Unstable spell-weaving, further appearance of corruption, hallucinations, withdrawals, mental instability
Obvious Temporary Fixes:
Of course, friends and the characters themselves will deign to find cures for what ails them, and some of the obvious, albeit temporary cures are things such as Mana Leeching from outside sources (Arcane Crystals, Shadow Founts, Other Characters - which if you desired could run a risk of spreading infection), and attempting to lock off spellweaves of the affected.
Source of the Sickness:
At current, the source of the affliction is currently unknown, but will be revealed and eventually (maybe!) stopped by the brave and bold. Stay tuned to see Chapter 1 of the Sins of the Father storyline play out and bring to light a new villain! Achrimedes Darcroft!
I look forward to bringing fun and (hopefully) drama free RP to the Alliance of Earthen Ring, and I'll certainly answer any questions you have! How you express symptoms of the Achrin-Darow is up to you, and it could just be a simple line in your "Current:" tab of MRP/RSP/TRP!

Permalink Reply by Jaffar Randal on July 8, 2012 at 11:01pm I'm volunteering my warlock Zorian. He's mainly a Shadow Mage as he focuses on shadow magic rather than fel magic, so this is right up his alley :)
Update:
After a night of strange magical activity in the Mage District of Stormwind, a massive pillar of Shadow Magic fired off into the sky for four or five hours above the Slaughtered Lamb bar. The pillar eventually dispersed after a surge of energy destabilized it and caused a brief storm over Stormwind while an explosion in the catacombs of the Lamb tore up the weaker points of the building and the lower chambers of the catacombs.
A group of inquisitive civilians and off duty soldiers narrowly escaped the blast after seeking the source of the disturbance in the first place. Several were injured and taken to the Cathedral for mending. Reports of cultists mentioning the "Achrin-Darow", a strange magical Virus that is spreading through the city, may be to blame for the problems in the first place, but have left no evidence or claimed ties to any known groups - all cultists present at the incident are reported dead as of this time.
My worgen Azinaria is in..Feel free to rp strange wildlife mutilations in and around Stormwind and Darnassus..thats going to be a part of it..

Noticeable Suspicious Activity:
Recently, men and women carrying peculiar daggers have been spotted around Stormwind and in Alliance provinces. These people tend to keep to themselves, yet do not often act out in public or make intentional scenes. Several buildings in Stormwind seem to have frequent guests carrying these daggers as of late as well. The Mage District and Cathedral District have been a lot busier lately with unusual activity, including wildlife mutations (squirrels, rats, bunnies), floral de-colorization (patches of grey grass and flowers have been spotted in both districts).
Unusual blue-flamed torches and lighting have been noted by several citizens late at night, but the source remains unknown. These torches seem to randomly appear throughout the city in place of the usual street torches and lamp lights.
OOC Information for the Curious:
Taldrus lead a group consisting of Heid, Garrote, Calithos, Chadel and Fethas to Caer Darrow on a hunch of the sicknesses origin. Sure enough the group uncovered cultist activity and learned the origin of the mysterious disease. Once a High Elf Magister, Achrinus Sunfall betrayed his people and joined the ranks of the Scourge, renaming himself Lord Achrinus Darrowfall. He was a master Spellcrafter and worked tirelessly to design and weaponize magical ability to benefit himself and the scourge. His masterpiece; the Achrin-Darow, named for his own credit.
The group learned that the sickness was in truth a rather potent blending of magic to create a spell that drained it's victims of magic over a long course of time, eventually stealing from them every last drop it could. The magic drained was stored somewhere for use by himself. But Lord Achrinus was betrayed by an unknown entity before he was able to perfect and complete the spell. Now years later, it seems someone has finished the spell and perfected it with deadly efficiency, creating a shadow based plague that spreads and evolves on it's own.
The group has learned that the source is related to two towers called the Pillar of Eve and the Pillar of Dawn. Two structures being built within Stormwind and are expected to reach completion this weekend! Bewildered and confused, the group escaped with their lives after a trap was sprung with the message: "You're already too late. Thanks for playing." Taldrus has a feeling he knows who might be behind this... But only time will tell. For now, the clock is ticking and the search has begun for the Pillars of Dawn and Eve to put a stop to this dreadful virus before it claims any more lives.
Want to add something? An In character reaction or sighting? Feel free to do so! The final days of Chapter 1 are upon us, so lets send off with a bang as we brace for Chapter 2 - Master or Puppet.

Alright! This chapter completed off with quite the bang! And I'm very happy for everyone who helped and played along in it! More chapters will come eventually, but for now, there's weddings and fun to be had! I look forward to more mystery and intrigue as time rolls on and all plans are revealed!
The sickness is cured and while lives were lost, many were saved and those responsible have been shown that the denizens of Azeroth will not simply roll over and be swept aside for them to do as they please! A brooding plan awaits and I'll have a couple short stories posted before I go into the next chapter. Thanks again everyone who helped!
