This is formerly called the Theramore Relief Effort. With the way things are going in Hillsbrad I think win or lose we'll be evacuating so this makes a good excuse.
Three lightly armed transportation ships will be carrying a total of 150 civilians and soldiers towards Stormwind. Several roleplay guilds already signed up so hopefully we can get a good turn out to save refugees. Also, there will be wounded on board and healers will be desired. The Horde are pushing hard and so there's a fear that the convoy will be attacked.
From the Horde's perspective its understood all the civilians have already been pulled out and there's a rumor that Baron Monroe will, instead of retreating is planning on landing his forces in Tol Bard, where the Legion has long had operations. There are also going to be many top leaders of the Alliance presence and its a perfect setup for an ambush.
Original part of post:
This is an event that may be a first in Earthen Ring history-- A naval battle! In southern vashir there are three alliance boats fully stocked with all the RP esentials such as seats, drinks, bunks, and even cannons against three horde ships equally equipped. There are even ladders from the water onto all six boats and only one of the horde boats has faction npcs on it, the other two boats' crews won't get you flagged!
The Rpers will split up into three teams, one for each allied boat. Each boat will have a mini-DM that will call shots against the horde vessel and captain their own ship. Guilds that historically don't work with each other don't even have to be on the same boat this way which allows you to test the waters with people you normally don't get along with without direct interaction. I've thought long and hard on how to make this fair and we'll be using a roll system to judge hits and damage-- controlled by each DM.
-IF-
If Horde guilds are interested then there will be no boarding of other boats. Instead everyone will be unflagged and the boat DMs will be in vent and tell their rolls to their perspective factions and boats.
Break down of rules:
-The three allied ships will have a DM each and a captain-- they may be the same person. -That person will call out orders and report hits and targets.
-There will be a master DM-- myself, who will call the horde shots and horde damage.
-Alliance ships will attack stronger, having 4 guns to the horde's 2.
-Horde sips will have superior armor having metal sides instead of wood.
-No flying mounts between ships. To board the horde ships path of frost will be invoked.
-Damage will affect overall HP of the ship. Once the ship begins to sink the crew must abandon ship and flee to the last ship.
-If the alliance loses the battle there is an overturned allied ship in the zone we can use as a placeholder for our last vessel.
-Each ship will have fifty soldiers and numerous supplies we are carrying to Theramore.
Only walking across the water will be allowed but you will be heavily exposed.
-If the ship takes damage at your area (up to the digression of the mini-DM) you are kindly asked to RP being hurt but no one is expecting you to lose a limb or die. Cannon balls can easily kill so keep that in mind.
-Feel free to RP giving and recieving small arms fire, but bear in mind this has no impact on the overall battle.
Rules for the four DMs (Eight if Horde come) (RPers just showing up don't need to read this):
-One DM per ship
-One DM for faction
-Each cannon gets a D6 roll.
-Alliance has 3 ships with 4 cannons each totalling 12D6.
-Horde has 3 ships with 2 cannons each totalling 6D6.
-Alliance ships hit on a roll 5 or 6.
-Horde ships hit on a roll 3, 4, 5, 6 against alliance ships.
-Horde ships hit on 5, 6 against targets in the water (not applicable if cross faction)
-Each allied ship has 1200 HP.
-Each horde ship has 1500 hp (Because they're ironclads)
-A hit is a /roll 1-100 for damage.
-At 200 HP the ship is 'dead in the water' and can not avoid incoming rounds.
Is it too complicated?
An Rper who would like to show up doesn't have to worry about any of those numbers, that's just for sake of keeping things balanced and keep godmoding away. Everyone can have a role from putting out fires to loading and firing cannons to steering the ship.
Questions? Concerns? Nothing is set in concrete yet.
