I've been talking among the people of chat here on the Earthen Ring Network, and given what's perceived as a lull in waiting for Pandaria, I think it's about time we get together a D&D group!

A little background...I'm a fairly seasoned Dungeon Master and I like to err on the side of heavy storytelling with some action and mystery segments. I'm not a "rocks fall, everyone dies" DM by a long shot. If you're new to D&D, I'll be very happy to show you the ropes and help you get into it.

Depending how many people are interested, I would be up to running two campaigns max, both using the same setting. However, right now I'm looking for several things here. The first is interest. If you're interested, let me know in this thread so I can keep you in the loop! If you have any suggestions for the campaign or want to tell me what you look forward to in a campaign, all the better - I like to know what my players like to see.

The other big question I need to tackle is a matter of version. The three candidates are:

- D&D/d20 3.5 Edition. You can find the SRD (System Reference Documentation) online on several sites.

- Paizo's Pathfinder d20, which is considered a version of 3.5 with some fixes and changes done by Paizo. You can find the SRD on their own site.

- D&D 4th edition, a completely different set of rules from 3rd. This edition is less open to custom material like classes, prestige classes, and feats, but also features a new class system, including the use of class roles for parties.

I'm currently working on a way to play the games online, although right now the main thought is to use Skype to chat while I set up a board with a webcam. We can also use one of the open virtual tabletop applications out there, but they can be a bit buggy.

Either way, if you're interested in playing, let me know here! I've got a whole campaign setting in the works and I'll share material as I finalize.

I'm interested!  Though I have no preference of version, since I've never played D&D before.

I'm still trying to figure out Mouse Guard.

I'm in, as a Halfling Rogue. Version preference is either 3.5 or Pathfinder.

Just to add more details:

-about 10 years experience with tabletop, so will be willing to teach new players

-schedule is highly flexible

-Is best Rogue. No argument.

Figure I should ask as well for those signing up and for people already expressing interest - can you give me a good idea of the times online you have free? Try to focus what you can towards evening times, and try to set out at least 2-3 hours of time for a session (more always better).

I would very much like this. I prefer Pathfinder. Paizo's PDF books are very affordable at $10 each for the core books. Also there's some great online resources for character creation using a 3.5 system like Pathfinder.

I'm interested, but... not sure how interested in 3.5 or Pathfinder! I'll have to take a look.

Interested, but my experience to it is literally negative zero.

Yesssss

Count me in!  3.5 preferably and DM experience myself, so I'd be glads to assist and teach the new players.  Evenings are great except friday nights and some wednesday nights.

Ooo this seems very interesting, but I'll likely pass based on my cruddy schedule. I have some limited online DnD experience from a few years ago, but I can't say I remember too much of it now!

If you refer to the online MMO D&D Drek, it's NOTHING like a true tabletop experience.  Tabletop is way superior.
